From Purpose to People: Why I Started Neta Virtual Team

My journey into business didn’t begin in a boardroom.
It started in community centres, youth programs, Indigenous communities, and on the ground with people who needed more than just services — they needed someone to believe in their potential. For over 20 years, I worked across not-for-profit and community sectors, leading teams, building programs, and pushing for change that mattered.
But over time, I began to see something else: the systems that support people often fail the people running them. Leaders burning out. Businesses stretched thin. Purpose getting lost under the weight of paperwork, admin, and rising costs.
I knew there had to be a better way to build — one that honoured both mission and sustainability.
That’s where Neta Virtual Team (NVT) was born.
I didn’t start NVT to follow a trend. I started it because I knew what it was like to carry too much — to lead a team, serve clients, grow a business, and still lie awake wondering how to make it all work.
